Zanzibar Island

Known as the Spice Island, 25 km off the coast of mainland Tanzania, the beautiful island of Zanzibar on Africa’s east coast is bursting with culture and history, seemingly at odds with its idyllic geography of white-sand beaches with palms swaying lazily in the sea breeze. Together this makes Zanzibar a fabulous place to explore as well as a dream to relax and unwind. Zanzibar includes Unguja and its sister island Pemba and more than 50 small islands.

STONE TOWN CITY TOUR (Half Day)

Explore the oldest and most attractive part of Zanzibar town built on a 95 acres peninsula and consisting of about 2500 buildings made of coral stone, lime and clay, thus the stones giving the name to this beautiful town. The town major interesting parts are its narrow lanes, with its markets, mosques, Christian’s churches, Hindus temples and two baobab trees.

SPICE TOUR:  (Half Day)

This is a guided spice tour in the country side of the Island. A  sightseeing trip that reveals the wonderful nature with frequent stops on small live farms of cash crops, food crops, spices, flowering trees and plants, medical trees and varieties of mints. While visiting the spice farms you will put to work all your senses, will see, test, guess, smell, and eat some of the local products and fruits.

PRISON ISLAND TOUR: (Flexible)

It’s a special boat trip that can be arranged either a half day or full day tour. It takes thirty-five minutes to reach this historic island which was used as point of concealment of slaves, that later became a temporary hospital and a quarantine island used during the outbreak of contagious diseases in the last century.

JOZANI FOREST TOUR (Flexible)

A short drive to the Jozani Natural Forest reserve which is home of the red Colobus monkey that is endemic to Zanzibar. These Monkeys are very charming, friendly and easy to take pictures while you can watch feeding and playing in the trees. You will have the opportunity to take a short walk into the forest to see different types of plants and trees species that still exist in this forest.

DOLPHIN TOUR (Full Day)

Pass an exciting day on a traditional dhow and see various species of Dolphins including spinner bottle nose and blue dolphins at a very close for swimming with them.

Zanzibar Safari (Full day)

A relax cruise day with a sea safari at the islands of the archipelago. You will see dolphins, sandbanks, and the coral reefs of Menai Bay, a beautiful conservation area. You will be provided with snorkelling equipment’s, guides and instructors, ice cold sodas and mineral water, a delicious Zanzibar sea food lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster gastronomic fruit tasting, coffee and tea will be served. You will round the day off by returning to the beach by traditional sailboat or speed boat.

SNORKELLING EXCURSION (half or full day)

(EITHER TO MNEMBA OR TUMBATU ISLAND)

Pick up from your hotel in the morning. Enjoy an endless snorkelling among tropical fish and coral reefs in a beautifully Island where will marine life experience of a life time. Your program will include: transportation, all snorkelling equipment, snacks and soft drinks and sea food lunch and you.

Scuba Diving Discovery (Full day)

Transfer from your hotel to the scuba diving site. Take an half an hour class learning the basic safety rules of diving with one of our instructors followed by half an hour practice in shallow waters. After this take a boat to the best dive sites. Guided by a certified instructor, you can try dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters. A special medical questionnaire must be filled out by each participant and a doctor approval might be required.

Zanzibar Shopping Tour

Spend a half of the day morning or afternoon shopping for the best arts and crafts that this island has to offer. Take home souvenirs such as complicatedly carved furniture’s, baskets, and rugs, semi-precious stones, jewelry, colorful fabrics etc. the choice is unlimited. Explore the different areas of the island and practicing you bargaining and negotiation skills, while you experience the local culture and get in contact with the locals.

Princess Salme Tour (3-Hours)

In this tour you will get acquainted with the life of Arabian princess Seyyida Salme and important local personality and author who lived in the 19th-century. You will visit Mtoni Palace, her birthplace, and hear all about the palace intrigues, assassination attempts, her love affairs and flight to Europe. You will also visit Marahubi Palace, built by Salme’s older brother Sultan Barghash and visit the Palace Museum, which has a room dedicated to Salme’s life and writings

Slave Routes of Zanzibar – (3-Hour Tour)

The island of Zanzibar played an important role in the Arab slave trade, until slavery was abolished in the 19th century. Visit and see some of the historical sites involved in the slave trade like Malindi`s Dhow Harbor, where slave ships brought their human cargo from Bagamoyo to Zanzibar. Next you’ll visit the house of the notorious Arab slave trader Tippu Tip. Continue to Stone Town to see the Anglican Church, which stands on the site of the island’s largest slave market. Then a short drive will take you to Mbweni to visit Mbweni Ruins, formerly a school for freed slave girls, and Mangapwani Beach, to see the house of the famous explorer Livingstone.

Swahili Culture Trip on Zanzibar Island (Half-day tour)

Discover the rich Swahili culture of Zanzibar Island. Your guide will take you to a rural village where you will have the opportunity to see the daily activities of the villagers; women weaving baskets, grinding millet, cooking local dishes using traditional methods. Observe the women as they decorate themselves with the traditional henna body painting and braid their hair and the young boys making ropes and scaling tall palm trees for fresh coconuts, while village men make thatch roofs for their huts or play the game of Bao, Zanzibar’s favourite pastime. Return to the hotel passing by cassava and bananas plantations where you can taste a variety of local produces from cassava and banana.

Sandbank Picnic in Zanzibar       (Full Day)

From Zanzibar port sail away for a full day cruise to the sandbanks around the superb island of Unguja for a rich shoreline private excursion with fish lunch. Visit charming Changuu Island and see titan Aldabra tortoises. During the day you will have the opportunity to snorkel in a live coral reef in the Indian Ocean

Dhow Sunset Cruise (2 hours)

From Stone Town sail away from the busy town to the coastal waters of Zanzibar for a magical 2-hour cruise sunset cruise. Just relax, enjoy the warm sea breeze, and take in the beauty of the African shoreline. Enjoy your favourite cocktails or champagne, listening to the tunes of the exotic Taarab Music while you see the Stone Town City’s highlights. Snacks will be served while you enjoy the breath-taking views of this charming colourful sunset with the skyline turns pink and gold as the sun sinks over the Indian Ocean.

Zanzibar North Coast and Turtle Sanctuary (Full day)

Early morning drive to Nungwi, and visit the fish market where freshly caught seafood is auctioned daily. Continue to the ruins of an Old Portuguese settlement, and learn about the Portuguese conquest of Zanzibar in 1497. Nest you will visit a blacksmith’s shop where the tools are still made using the centuries-old methods. You may wish to try your hand at the unique craft of bending wood for the construction of Zanzibar’s famous dhows. Your next visit will be to the aquarium in Nungwi and the turtle sanctuary. You will learn how ailing turtles are nursed back to health and released into the ocean. The end of your day trip will bring you to the northern tip of Zanzibar to admire one of the world’s most beautiful sunsets.
